HISTORY OF FILM TECHONOLOGY:

Eadweard Muybridge, the father of Cinema and the citizen of England, often called the film inventor born on the 9th April 1830, had pioneered the work in photographic studies of motion.  Later only, the Hollywood of English films, and the Bollywood of Hindi films emerged.

First Hindi and Tamil silent films:  Raja Harichandra was the first Hindi silent film directed and produced by Dadasahib Phalke in the year 1913, whereas the first silent film in Tamil had been KEECHAKA VAADHAM produced and directed by R.  Nataraja in the year1916.  The second one KALIDAS had been the first audio film, produced by Ardeshir and directed by Iran.

Traditional Entertainments:

Traditionally there existed Folk Dramas, Street dramas, and many other types of enactments to entertain the people.  In England it was a fashion for them to enact dramas in the Theaters and it received a lot of popularity that resulted the arrival of the great Dramatists like William Shakespeare. Later, the advancement in the field of Science and Technology Made room for the emergence of Modern Film Industry to grow at these stupendous highs.

Types of Films:

Films are produced not only to entertain the people but also to bring positive social changes by teaching certain moral values.  Based upon their nature, and function there are films such as Romantic( Love),  Historic,  Humorous,  Tragic,  Comic, Tragic-Comic,  Religious,  Scientific,  Political,  Revolutionary,  Judicial,  Animal,  Social,  Moral,  Devotional, Scenery, Knowledge,  Informative,  Psychological,  Sentimental and so on.

A MAJOR TOOL TO BRING SOCIAL CHANGES:

There is no doubt that all the movies are designed to bring out positive social changes in the society.  The fundamental aspect of the most  films is the conflict between the bad elements and the good aspects and finally the good aspects get victory over the bad elements and thus the moral lesson taught to the society is “EVER FOLLOW THAT WHICH IS GOOD”

Public Choices:

In these above mentioned situation, usually the heroes and heroines take the role of  good elements and the fans (Spectators), having impressed with the roles of their heroes and heroines, tend to consider them as their role-models, and this attitude definitely pave way for social changes.   Good aspects include factors such as respecting the elders, helping the needy people, maintaining morality, restrain from eve-teasing, drinking, smoking,  molesting,  cheating , bribing  and so on,

POTENTIAL TENDENCY OF AVERSION TOWARDS BAD ASPECTS:

It doesn’t mean that there are bad elements in the movies.  They are in plenty’s; but the spectators should be matured enough to evaluate things correctly and to eliminate the evil aspects that they noticed in the movies, at the spur of the movement.  (For example a hero who fight against bad elements may smoke or drink or even miss-behave with their elders)

ROLE OF FILM INDUSTRY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL LEADERS:

As the spectators develop a positive and good regard over their heroes or heroines, many film actors and actress become very popular among the public.  Actors like M.G.    Ramachandran, and N. D. Ramarave were cherished by the mass and later became chief-ministers.  Many Musicians, Singers and ’story writers’ have been emerging and are being exposed to the new world.

FILM INDUSTRY- A TOOL FOR SOCIALISATION:

A film portrays the belief, and culture that existed in the past and the people of modern generation follows them and in this way film industry behaves as a cultural transmitter.

HUMAN TOIL:

A film is just like a beautiful clay model made out of clay to us for educative, informative, and enjoyment purposes.  To make a beautiful model of clay, we need refined clay, water or other solvent, some chemicals, paint, brush and above all brainy labor, in the same way the film industry performs its role with the aid of story writers, able producers, talented directors, efficient composers, bright editors, patient musicians, melodious singers and other various masters.  Above all it requires money and patience.  It is a vast, everlasting, endless, industry that provides the mixture of enjoyment, information knowledge and human values and portrays the life-style of Haves and Have notes.  So we are much indebted and thankful for the further growth of this unique industry. Basically,  it has been toiling hard endlessly to bring positive social changes and it is not yet achieved and it will take a long way to go.  We have to appreciate the role of film industry for the metamorphic changes that it deems to bring out in this world and there is no doubt that it is being a  long evolutionary as well as revolutionary  process to be achieved
